A slow or leaky sink drain is easy to ignore - until it isn't. What looks like a minor drip under the cabinet can actually trace back to something much worse hiding behind the cabinet wall. That's exactly what we ran into on this job.

The existing drain setup was a mix of old cast iron pipe and failing tubular fittings. The cast iron had corroded so badly that the inside of the pipe was almost completely choked with buildup - we're talking heavy rust, scale, and years of deterioration. There was a visible hole rusted clean through the pipe body. No amount of snaking or patching was going to fix that.

We pulled everything out - the rusted cast iron, the old fittings, all of it - and replaced the full drain assembly with new PVC. PVC doesn't corrode, it flows cleanly, and it's far easier to service down the road if anything ever needs attention. The new setup is properly fitted with a clean P-trap and runs solid to the wall stub-out. No more leaks, no more slow drains.

One thing worth pointing out here - we were able to save the customer money on this repair. That's not always a given when you open up a wall or pull out old iron pipe. We look for every reasonable way to keep costs down without cutting corners on the actual work. Sometimes that's possible, sometimes it's not, but we always try.

If your sink is draining slow, smelling off, or showing any signs of moisture under the cabinet, don't wait on it. Old cast iron drain lines like this one don't get better on their own. Our drain line clearing and plumbing fixture repair work covers exactly these kinds of situations - and we'll tell you straight what you're dealing with before any work starts.
